Is Studio KBF the Right Fit, or Do You Need a Full Remodel?

Keep the footprint, or move the walls? It is the first honest question of any remodel, and it decides almost everything that follows.

Do you love where your kitchen sits but not one thing in it? Is the bathroom in exactly the right place and still impossible to live with?
Studio KBF is the right fit when the room is in the right place and the problem is everything you touch: cabinetry, counters, tile, fixtures, lighting, storage and finish. It is our designer-led, remove-and-replace path for a kitchen, a bath, or every room in the house, as long as the layout stays. KBF Signature is the right path when the layout itself is the problem — walls that need to move, plumbing or electrical that has to be relocated, a service-panel upgrade, gas-line work, or a design that needs full freedom. The gate is complexity, not room count.
A good remodeler can make almost any room prettier. The better question, and the one a first consultation should settle before anyone falls in love with a finish, is whether the footprint deserves to stay.
Is Studio KBF only for smaller projects?
No. Studio KBF is defined by complexity, not by room count. A single primary bath can be a Studio project. So can a whole house, if the work is remove-and-replace and the layout stays substantially where it is.
That matters more than it sounds in Central Florida. Plenty of homes in Winter Park, Maitland, Longwood and Lake Mary have rooms that are shaped correctly and finished badly: sensible circulation, builder-grade storage, dated lighting, a material palette nobody chose on purpose. Keeping the footprint protects what already works and concentrates the investment on the parts of the house you use every day.
What has to stay in place for Studio KBF to fit?
Three things: the walls, the major plumbing and electrical locations, and the way you move through the room. If those hold, the finishes can carry the whole transformation.

A Winter Park kitchen, modeled first and then built inside the same footprint. The glossy white kitchen and its bar-height seating wall came out; a marble-veined quartz island took their place, with the waterfall end turned toward the living room. The model settled the architecture — the island, the tall bank, the runs — before a single cabinet was ordered.
The homeowner here had already worked with another designer, then retained Studio KBF to see what a second set of eyes would do with the same room. Nothing structural changed. What changed was every surface, every appliance and every decision about where things live — which is the honest description of a same-footprint remodel.
The simplest self-test: if the room is in the right place and your frustration is with what you touch, Studio is likely your path. Our field note on same-footprint versus full remodels works through the same gate without the brand names attached.
What does a Studio KBF project actually include?
The same team and the same standards as any KBF remodel, on a constrained scope. A Studio project includes a designer-led selection session with a curated palette, a streamlined plan set covering layout, elevations and finishes, standard electrical and plumbing permitting with KBF as the licensed contractor of record, a dedicated project manager, installation by the KBF field team, and the same written 5-year craftsmanship warranty that covers every project we build.
What changes is the path, not the pedigree: fewer decisions, a palette resolved before you are asked to choose, and the same six-phase process run against a scope that cannot surprise you halfway through. Because the layout stays, there are no load-bearing discoveries and no engineered-beam change orders mid-build.
When is a full KBF Signature remodel the better path?
When the layout is the problem. If a wall blocks the light, the kitchen cannot support the way your family actually cooks, the shower needs a bigger footprint than the room currently gives it, or the house needs structural work, forcing the project into a same-footprint box is false economy. You would spend real money and still own the original problem.

We name the anti-fit on purpose. Load-bearing changes, major plumbing or electrical relocation, service-panel upgrades and gas-line work all route to Signature so they get the engineering and the permitting they require. The answer to “can I just move one wall?” is no — not because we will not do it, but because doing it properly is a different project. Honest gating at the consultation is what makes a Studio timeline believable.
If you are weighing a whole-house reset rather than one room, what should be decided before a whole-home remodel starts covers the scope questions that come first either way.
What does a Studio KBF remodel cost?
We do not publish a Studio KBF price, and we will not invent one over the phone. The honest number rests on two things nobody has seen yet: how much of the house you are touching, and the level of finish you choose. The same laundry room can be built three different ways.
What is fixed is the path to the number. Your complimentary consultation confirms the project fits Studio. The designer-led selection session sets the palette. The price is then built with you against real selections, line by line, before you commit to a build. What a design retainer actually buys explains why that sequence is what protects a budget, rather than a number produced before the design exists.
Studio KBF is a controlled scope, not a discount category. It spends where it shows.
Five questions to answer before your consultation
- Does the current layout work on a good day, or only when everyone compromises?
- Are you trying to fix storage, lighting and finishes, or flow?
- Would you keep the sink, shower, range and refrigerator roughly where they are if the finished room looked and worked far better?
- Are you comfortable choosing from a curated palette instead of reopening every option?
- If we find the house needs structural or major systems work, are you open to Signature instead?
Bring evidence from the house, not just inspiration from the internet: wide photographs from each doorway, a short list of what frustrates you, any plans or measurements you already have. What to bring to a design consultation is the longer version of that list. Answering the five above before you arrive lets a designer settle fit in the first half hour, which makes everything after it more honest.
So which one is your project?
Studio KBF is right when the room’s position and circulation deserve to stay and the surfaces, storage, lighting and cabinetry need a serious reset. Signature is right when the layout, the structure or the systems have to change. One consultation, at the Maitland showroom or at your house, tells you honestly which one your home wants — and either way it is the same KBF team.
